With Ashampoo Privacy Protector they don't have to, because you can send them self-decrypting archives that "unpack" themselves. The recipient just double clicks on the file and enters the password at the prompt displayed. The original files are then decrypted, extracted and written to your disk automatically. These self-decrypting files are a little like compressed zip or arc archives in addition to single files they can also contain the contents of folders and even entire directory trees, which are then rebuilt automatically with all folders and sub-folders when they auto-decrypt themselves.
